Bradford & Bingley logoBradford & Bingley and Shelter have been working in partnership since 1996. In 2001 the company became title sponsor of Shelter's free housing advice helpline, providing the support to maintain and strengthen this vital lifeline for people in housing need.

Our shared values

Preventing and alleviating the causes of homelessness have been shared goals from the beginning. The partnership reflects Bradford & Bingley's continued investment in - and commitment to - the local communities in which all of us live and work.

About the partnership

2006 - the tenth year of working together and a big milestone when Bradford & Bingley's sponsorship, donations and employee fundraising for Shelter exceeded the £1 million mark.

2005 - we worked together on the Summer Sizzler project to encourage local communities to donate books to Shelter shops in return for a chance to enter a prize draw of celeb signed books.

2004 - we produced a Home from Home guide to letting and renting for students.

2003 - Bradford & Bingley sponsored Shelter's running team, including 70 staff runners, in the Flora London marathon, which raised more than £850,000 for Shelter and more than 10 million otv of media coverage. Also in 2003 Bradford & Bingley staff took part in the football-themed Strip 4 Shelter fundraising day.

2002 - we produced a joint Homesick Report using evidence from the Helpline to highlight concerns about the damage to people's health caused by homelessness and bad housing. More than 500,000 leaflets increased awareness of the report's findings among a target audience of families and older people, with a local press campaign gaining a massive four million otv.

Raising awareness

For the past five years, Bradford & Bingley has also sponsored Shelter's annual reception, a 'thank you' event for the charity's supporters.

These activities have managed to leverage extensive media and marketing opportunities for both Bradford & Bingley and Shelter and raised awareness of Shelter's work in different areas. Success has been achieved through working closely together, communicating effectively to our key audiences and finding new ways to develop the partnership.
