Between 2000 and 2002, Nationwide Building Society sponsored Strip 4 Shelter, the largest football fundraising event in the UK.
Strip 4 Shelter was a fantastic one-day annual event in which tens of thousands of people wore their football shirt or colours to work or school and gave a donation to Shelter on the same day.
With Nationwide's support, Strip 4 Shelter raised over £750,000 for Shelter's work with homeless and badly housed people across the UK. The event was promoted to every primary school, secondary school and university in the country, and to 35,000 commercial and public sector organisations.
Nationwide Building Society employees also demonstrated their support by running for Shelter in the 2003 Flora London Marathon.
