The Co-operative Group and Shelter are committed to helping the one million children in the UK who live in housing that is wrecking their lives - disrupting their education, ruining their health, and damaging their life prospects.

The two organisations have many values in common, particularly a commitment to supporting communities and families. The Caring Together partnership is an excellent opportunity for the Co-operative Group and Shelter to improve the lives of families and children suffering in bad housing throughout Britain.

Through their programme of fundraising events in stores, branches, and offices in every part of the UK, the Co-operative Group's staff, members, and customers are aiming to raise £700,000, which will be used to provide services to help badly housed children and families in their local communities.

The money raised through Caring Together will support Shelter's work helping families to find and keep a home, as well as providing tailored practical, legal, and emotional support. The partnership aims to bring the various Co-operative Group businesses together (Food Retail, Travelcare, Pharmacy, Funeralcare, Home Stores, smile, Syncro, The Co-operative Bank, CIS, farmcare, Priory and Co-opelectricalshop), working collectively to raise funds for Shelter.

The benefits of the partnership go beyond the financial. Caring Together will also help to raise awareness of the scale and effects of bad housing throughout the UK, and support Shelter's work campaigning for long-term change.

With the support of the Co-operative Group's staff, customers and members, Shelter will continue to improve the lives of children suffering in bad housing today, and build a brighter future for generations to come.
