Remember a Charity
Though 75% of the UK population support charities during their lifetime, only 7% currently leave a legacy to a charity when writing a will. Remember A Charity was formed in 2000 and now has over 150 member charities working together to encourage more people to consider leaving a charitable gift in their will, once they’ve looked after their family and friends. Shelter Scotland is proud to be a member of Remember A Charity.
Remember A Charity in Your Will Week
Every year, Shelter Scotland supports Remember A Charity in Your Will Week, to raise awareness of the vital contribution people can make by leaving a gift in their will. This year’s week runs from 12 - 18 September 2016.
Charitable legacies are the foundation for causes like ours and are vital in continuing our work. That’s why we’re taking part in Remember A Charity in your Will Week.
What will you pass on?
Many people pass on legendary and much-cherished advice in their lifetime to family and friends. According to research carried out by Remember A Charity 'Make the most of every day', 'Age is only a number' and 'Happiness takes us places that money never will' were the most popular phrases that the nation would most like to pass on to a loved one.
Remember A Charity in Your Will Week is celebrating advice like this and asking everyone to think about what they too will pass on, whether that be their own words of wisdom or perhaps considering a gift in their will to charity – an act of kindness that is also truly legendary.
Writing a will is one of the most important things you will ever do. After you’ve taken care of your loved ones, you too can become a living legend by including a charity you care about.
Remember A Charity has launched a film reminding people to think about leaving a gift to their favourite charities:
