Emergency help
This website cannot help you solve all your housing problems. Some problems may be too urgent or too serious. However, an adviser may be able to help you.
You should get help from a housing adviser immediately if:
- you cannot pay your rent or mortgage
- your landlord has asked you to move out and you don't want to go
- you don't have a place to call your own
- you feel threatened or unsafe in your home.
If you have a housing problem, you can get help and advice by calling Shelter's free housing advice helpline on 0808 800 4444. Lines are open 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. You can find out more about the helpline here.
If you don't like using the phone, you can email our advisers your problem instead. However, it may take up to three days for an adviser to get back to you, so it may be better to phone.
