If your claim for asylum has been successful and you have been told you can remain in the UK then the support you received as an asylum seeker could be stopped. Don't panic though as there are many other ways for you to access money and accommodation. This section looks at your options.
Withdrawal of support
If the UK Border Agency gives you leave to remain in the UK then you can no longer be classed as an asylum seeker. This means that it will not provide you with financial support or accommodation any more. This page looks at your rights, and how you can find yourself a new home.
Asylum seekers and homelessness
Once you have been told to leave your asylum support accommodation you should start looking for somewhere else to live straight away. One option is to make a homeless application to the council.
Refugee Integration and Employment Service
The Refugee Integration and Employment Service (RIES) is a new service that started operating on 1 October 2008. It offers advice and support to refugees who've recently been granted leave to remain in the UK, and can help you access benefits, housing, employment and education.
Integration loans for refugees
If you are over 18 years of age and been granted refugee status or humanitarian protection after 11 June 2007 (or you are a dependant aged over 18 years of someone who has), you can apply for an integration loan to help you settle into life in the UK. The loans can be used to pay for housing costs, or to help you find a job.
