If you have to go to court for a case dealt with by civil law, you may be able to get help with the costs through the Scottish Legal Aid system. Civil legal aid is one of the types of funding available under the system. It's money provided by the government (as part of civil legal assistance) to help pay for legal representation from a solicitor. It is separate from advice and assistance. You can find out more about legal aid here.
