Guarantor

A guarantor is someone who agrees to be responsible for the debt of another person. If you are a student or on a low income, you may not be able to get a mortgage unless you can find someone to act as a guarantor for you. If you default on your mortgage, the guarantor will be legally responsible for making the payments. The lender will check that the guarantor would be able to afford the payments should this happen.
