Befriender - South Lanarkshire

We are looking for several befrienders to support the delivery of our family support project in South Lanarkshire. As a befriender, you would provide 1 to 1 support to an adult affected by homelessness or housing issues.

Our service in South Lanarkshire provides emotional and practical support to 30 families at any one time throughout the South Lanarkshire area who are homeless or badly housed.   We operate on a Monday-Friday from 9-5.   Our main aim is to work alongside families to gain and maintain a permanent home.

By being a befriender you will help support a person who is experiencing housing issues to increase their self-esteem, confidence, and community integration.  You may support a person who is at the start of a new tenancy to integrate within their community.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a support role. Volunteers will become part of a friendly and supportive team, and will be provided with comprehensive training and development opportunities.

Training for this role will likely take place in July.

Please read the role description for more information or contact Vajeeha at VolunteerScotland@shelter.org.uk.
