Volunteer in a Shelter shop
We have hundreds of volunteers working in our shops nationwide. Some do it to build up their CVs, others to earn NVQ qualifications and to learn new skills.
All of them enjoy the experience of working in a fun and friendly atmosphere while helping to raise money for a good cause.
Whatever you want to get out of working with us, opportunities always exist for volunteers; working with the public as a sales assistant, organising the books and music sections or keeping the shop clean and tidy.
As with any retailer, great emphasis is placed on the ability to display new and donated items attractively, both in the shop and in the windows. The role offers a unique opportunity to be creative and to market our goods to best effect.
To get involved, find out if there is a Shelter shop near you. Then fill in an application form and return it to:
Richard Sweet, Shelter, Unit 13, City Forum, 250 City Road, London, EC1V 2PU.
The application process is straightforward. If there is a suitable vacancy for you, you will be asked to attend a brief interview. Although this sounds formal, it is really just an opportunity for us to get to know you and to find out more about your skills.
If you are offered a placement, a keyworker from the staff team will arrange your induction, relevant training and support. Your keyworker will act as your first point of contact while you are a volunteer with us.
If you need any further information, please feel free to telephone the Supporter Helpdesk on 0300 330 0516.
Please remember you must be aged 18 years or over to be a volunteer with Shelter.
