Applying as homeless

This section deals with factors that may need to be addressed up to and including the point at which someone makes an application as homeless. It looks at common issues that arise and mechanisms for addressing them.

Who can apply

Part II of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 refers to an application by a person and does not specify age or legal capacity of the applicant. Several issues can arise in respect of who can apply.

Multiple or repeat applications

The Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 does not limit the number of applications that can be made to the same authority nor the number of local authorities to whom an application can be made.

Where to apply

This section discusses where someone can make an application as homeless.

Other issues

This section looks at a number of additional factors to be considered when someone is making an application for assistance because of homelessness.
