Big Shelter Scotland Team In 10k Run To Raise Thousands of Pounds to Combat Homelessness

6 May 2011

A 14-strong team from Shelter Scotland’s Glasgow office is hoping to raise tens of thousands of pounds when they take part in the IGNIS Asset Management Women’s 10k event in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, this Sunday [8th May].

All money raised will go towards the charity’s vital housing support work with children carried out by its Glasgow Families Project.

The fundraising effort comes at the end of a week when the Shelter Scotland Edinburgh HQ was badly damaged by fire, leaving the charity and 40 of its staff temporarily homeless.

Graeme Brown, Director of Shelter Scotland says:

“This is a fantastic effort by a big team of our Glasgow colleagues. I wish them all the best in achieving their target of raising thousands of pounds to go towards our pioneering work in Glasgow aimed at combating the crippling effects of homelessness on some of the city’s most vulnerable children.

“On a week when we have had more than our fair share of adversity to overcome, events like this bring perspective to our situation. Our work to end homelessness and for everyone to have a home is as vital as ever.”
