Nationwide's Christmas gifts
18 November 2008

Nationwide employees across the UK are running a secret santa scheme with a twist this Christmas, by filling shoeboxes full of gifts for homeless families.
The building society is supporting Shelter’s ‘Homeless to Home’ in Bristol this year, a service for families, children and young people who are making the transition from homelessness to permanent housing.
Homeless to Home has a strong track record of working with homeless families throughout Bristol. Usually, families have lived in a succession of poor quality and disruptive temporary accommodation situations.
The service offers a support package that helps children and their families settle into a decent, secure and affordable permanent local authority or housing association home. It also helps children and young people settle into a home, school and community, through one-to-one support, group activities, trips, work with schools, and work with specialist services.
Thanks to Nationwide Building Society’s generous support, the service is able to deliver a range of initiatives, including Friday drop-in services and Saturday activity clubs.
Shelter’s account director Clare Davenport said; ‘It’s fantastic to have Nationwide’s support for our Bristol Homeless to Home service, which provides much-needed help to homeless families in the South West.
‘Nationwide’s Christmas shoeboxes will be a great addition to the service’s festive celebrations, and will bring some seasonal cheer to the families.
Thanks very much to all the employees who are taking part in the scheme.‘
