Consultation on the update of the Code of Guidance on Homelessness
By: Shelter Scotland Published: December 2003
The Scottish Executive launched a consultation on the contents of an updated Code of Guidance on Homelessness in October 2003. This paper is Shelter's response to that consultation.
Summary
The Code of Guidance on Homelessness is an indispensable publication for practitioners. Produced by the Scottish Executive, it gives guidance to practitioners on how to implement the homelessness legislation. By 2003, the code required a major overhaul, following the passage of two pieces of legislation, the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 and the Homelessness etc. (Scotland) Act 2003. This paper details Shelter's recommendations for change.
