Socially excluded groups like homeless people or people with some form of illness often raise concerns in areas where it is planned to build accommodation for them. Mainstream social housing or private accommodation for young people like students can raise similar concerns. Sometimes this concern can erupt into outright community opposition.
This resource pack has been developed to give providers of this kind of accommodation practical and detailed help on how to work more effectively with communities to ease concerns and head off conflict.
It should be read by staff involved in planning and development of services: from local authorities; registered social landlords; voluntary and commercial organisations.
