Breathing Space
Breathing Space is a free and confidential phoneline service for any individual, who is experiencing low mood or depression, or who is unusually worried and in need of someone to talk to.
Depression Alliance Scotland
Depression Alliance Scotland provides information and support both for anyone affected by depression and their friends and family.
Samaritans
Samaritans offer confidential, non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day by phone or via email.
SANE
A UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by mental illness. SANE runs the helpline Saneline, and their website contains useful information on depression, addictions, schizophrenia, phobias and other mental illnesses.
See Me Scotland
The 'see me' campaign was launched in October 2002 to challenge stigma and discrimination around mental ill-health in Scotland. The campaign is run by an alliance of five Scottish mental health organisations: Highland Users Group (HUG), National Schizophrenia Fellowship (Scotland), Penumbra the Royal College of Psychiatrists (Scottish Division) and the Scottish Association for Mental Health.
Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH)
Provides services for people with mental health problems across Scotland, including a telephone information line.
Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health
An independent body dedicated to the continuing development and improvement of mental health services in Scotland. It undertakes local and national development support, training and research, and disseminates information relevant to mental health services issues.
WellScotland
WellScotland aims to raise awareness and understanding of mental health issues and promote sharing of information, knowledge, research and training in mental health improvement. It also has a section on improving your mental health with top tips, personal stories, news, events and self help.
