About the conference

Effective prevention of homelessness is arguably the single most important action that can be taken to meet the internationally acclaimed 2012 homelessness target. As we enter a period of economic uncertainty it is likely that new groups could be threatened by homelessness and new responses will be needed. At the same time funding changes to homelessness and housing support budgets mean that services helping to head off homelessness now have to justify themselves more fully than ever before.

Specifically, this one day conference comes only weeks before section 11 of the 2003 Homelessness Act goes live, introducing new duties on landlords and lenders to notify local authorities about their possession actions.

The event will explore a number of measures and services that can help people stay in their accommodation or otherwise avoid the crisis of homelessness. A mixture of plenary presentations and workshop sessions, from experts in this field, will provide delegates with opportunities to learn about new services and share ideas on good practice.
