The Home Owner and Debtor Protection (Scotland) Act 2010 came into force on 30th September 2010, resulting in a number of key changes to the law on mortgage repossessions in Part 1 of the Act.
This seminar will set out the changes which solicitors dealing with repossessions cases need to be aware of and practical details regarding court forms and procedures. It will also use case studies to illustrate how the new legislation should be applied and there will time for discussion of the key points.
The seminar will be led by Eleanor Hamilton, Principal Solicitor of Shelter Scotland’s Housing Law Service. Eleanor previously worked in private practice and has extensive experience in all aspects of repossessions law. She has spoken recently at a number of awareness-raising seminars commissioned by the Scottish Legal Aid Board on the new Act.
The event is particularly relevant for solicitors in private practice and law centres dealing with repossession cases. It also includes useful information for in-house solicitors working in local authorities.
The cost per delegate is £70 plus VAT for solicitors in private practice, or £50 plus VAT for law centre solicitors. Tea, coffee and refreshments are included.
