Children, education and homelessness: getting it right
03 March 2011
Due to reasons outwith our control we have changed the format of our forthcoming event ‘Children, education and homelessness: getting it right’, due to take place on Wednesday 2nd March in Glasgow.
We are now holding an evening reception in the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh from 6.00-8.00pm on Thursday 3rd March. This event marks the culmination of Keys to the Future, a three-year Shelter Scotland programme to tackle the worst effects of bad housing and homelessness on children’s lives.
The event is being supported by Karen Whitefield MSP, Convenor of the Education Committee, and speakers will outline the importance of closer ties between the housing, homelessness and education sectors in improving outcomes for children in bad housing. A short film will be shown which highlights children’s experiences of these issues and we will also be launching online resources for the education sector to provide advice on how they can support children whose learning is affected by housing problems.
This event is free and soft drinks and light refreshments will be served. There will be plenty time for networking and we hope that you can join us.
If you would like to attend please email scotlandevents@shelter.org.uk.
