Introduction to Homelessness
A one-day course suitable for housing workers or people interested in housing issues, who have little or no experience in this area of housing legislation. It is ideal as part of an induction process.
Distance Learning equivalent: Homelessness Type II
Aims
This one-day course aims to:
- give delegates a broad understanding of homelessness issues and the legislation related to them.
- enable participants to identify homelessness cases and how to apply the legislation in practice.
Course
The course content includes:
- Why do people become homeless?
- The role of legislation, Code of Guidance, case law, policy and procedures.
- The concept of the 'four hurdles' and their definition with reference to legislation and Code of Guidance.
- The 2001 Act and the main duties therein.
- Short session on the legislation practice.
