Introduction to Housing

A one-day course suitable for housing workers or people interested in housing issues, who have little or no experience in this area. It is ideal as part of an induction process.

Distance Learning equivalent: Core Housing Knowledge Type II and Housing Options Type II

Aims

The aim of the course is to provide core knowledge of basic housing issues and housing options in Scotland.

Course includes

The course content includes:

  • What sort of housing is available - local authority, registered social landlords, other landlords, owner occupation, shared ownership, crofts, special needs housing.
  • Who provides housing and how do they do it - allocation policies and procedures, how to access other rented housing, buying a house.
  • Common housing problems.
  • Dealing with housing problems.
