Time up for evictions
As the 2012 homelessness target approaches, we must incorporate avoidance of needless eviction into homelessness prevention plans.
Many of you have written to your councillors to express your concern over evictions by social landlords and we are already beginning to see results.
- Some housing associations have agreed to meet with us to discuss their eviction levels and how to prevent unnecessary evictions in the future.
- Currently Shelter's policy team are writing a follow-up report on how social landlords can avoid evictions, using the responses you received from your councillors.
- Although the eviction campaign is now over, Shelter will continue to highlight the problem until we are satisfied that all evictions are unavoidable.
