It's time to get a move in
Scotland's politicians have already shown their commitment to tackling housing and homelessness by promising that everyone should have a home by 2012.
Now it's time to make that promise a reality. It's time to get a move in.
Last year Shelter campaigned heavily for more money for housing; in September you helped us collect 30,000 postcards from the public to deliver to Finance Secretary John Swinney asking him to commit enough money to build 30,000 new affordable homes for rent.
In November 2007 the budget was delivered with a cut in the funding for housing over the following year. It was a crushing blow for the future of Scotland's housing and Shelter was severely disappointed.
But the Scottish Government's commitment to give everyone the right to a home by 2012 still stands, and we believe this target is achievable.
We need as much help as we can get to keep up the pressure on politicians to make sure this target is met, if you want to do more you can become a campaign supporter and join our fight. We will send you emails letting you know how to take action.
