New Shelter Scotland Aviemore shop to open to help fight against the housing emergency

Posted 06 Jul 2026

Shoppers in Aviemore will soon have a new way to support Shelter Scotland's fight for home, as the charity opens its newest shop on 9 July at 10am.

Nestled within the Cairngorms National Park, the housing and homelessness charity have been busy bringing their new home on Grampian Road, Aviemore, to life. Every purchase and donation made in the shop will help Shelter Scotland’s vital work to end the country's housing emergency.

Packed with quality pre-loved fashion, homeware and books, the shop offers shoppers the chance to pick up a bargain while helping fund Shelter Scotland's work to challenge the causes of the housing emergency.

Shelter Scotland Interim Director Gordon Llewellyn-MacRae said:

“We’re excited to open our new shop in Aviemore and welcome customers through our doors.

“Scotland’s housing emergency now means there are more than 10,480 children in Scotland with nowhere to call home. We need to build more social homes, more quickly otherwise homelessness will rise.

“Every item donated, every purchase made and every hour volunteered in Aviemore will help us support people facing homelessness and keep pressing for the social homes Scotland desperately needs.

“Your support keeps us in the fight against homelessness, so ahead of our opening on 9 July, I’d like to thank all our customers and donors for their generosity.”

Shelter Scotland Area Manager, Becky O’Hagan said:

“We’re delighted to welcome customers into our new Aviemore shop and be part of such a vibrant community as we fight against the housing emergency.

“Our dedicated staff and volunteers are looking forward to showing bargain hunters around. Every donation, purchase and volunteer hour will help Shelter Scotland continue supporting people experiencing homelessness and be part of the fight for home.”

She added: “If you would like to join our volunteer team, please drop by as we have lots of different opportunities. We can't wait to meet our new customers, supporters and volunteers and are proud to be joining the Aviemore community."
