Send donations to Shelter shops for free

Drop off your pre-loved items at any Collect+ drop-off point.

Having a clear out? You can send your unwanted items to our charity shops by using Shelter's free Collect+ service.

All you need is some packaging to pack up your donations. It’s easy, free and you’ll be helping fight the housing emergency with every item you donate.

How to send your donations to Shelter

1. Find your nearest Collect+ drop-off point

There are thousands of conveniently located drop-off points across the country. Most of them are in local convenience stores, so you won’t need to go to a post office.

Find your nearest Collect+ drop-off point

2. Pack up your donations

Each parcel can weigh up to 10kg and measure up to 60cm by 50cm by 50cm.

3. Generate a Freepost label

Generate your Freepost label. You can either show the label barcode to a member of staff at the drop-off point or print the label off at home.

Please add Gift Aid at this point if you’re a UK taxpayer. There’s no cost for you and we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 raised through sales of your donated items.

4. Take your package to a drop-off point

Hand over your package and show your collection barcode. That’s it!

Once we receive your items, we'll sort and sell them on our online shop or in our high street stores.

What you can donate

We would love to accept any of your pre-loved goods in excellent condition.

We’re especially in need of:

  • Clothing and footwear: premium quality branded or designer clothes and shoes

  • Accessories: including bags, sunglasses, belts and hats

  • Jewellery: either modern or vintage

  • Books: any genre, in good condition

  • Homeware: ornaments or collectibles, either modern or vintage

  • Tableware: good quality ceramic tableware

We can’t accept:

  • CDs

  • DVDs

Do you have good quality ceramic tableware to donate?

We’re working together with Denby, who are offering a reward of up to £50 off Denby’s ceramics for those donating tableware to Shelter Scotland.

Your clear-out can help fight the housing emergency

A woman and her son smile as they hug. They are sitting in the garden outside a block of flats

Home is everything. It's our foundation and it's where we thrive.

But our failed housing system is denying 1.5 million people in Scotland the right to a safe home.

With your help, we'll reform private renting, demand more social homes, and be there for anyone fighting housing injustice.
