This section looks at your rights if you live in accommodation owned by your university or college. If you are disabled, this section looks at your rights to access university or college accommodation suitable for your needs.

If you rent accommodation from a private landlord or live in a privately run halls of residence, you will have either an assured or short assured tenancy. Go to the section on renting from a private landlord to find out more about your rights.

If you have any problems with your accommodation, you can get support and advice from your Students' Association, or from an adviser at a Shelter advice centre or Citizens Advice.

University owned accommodation

This page looks at your rights if you are a student living in halls of residence or other accommodation let to you by your university or college. It includes advice on what to do if you are asked to leave your accommodation.
