Major giving and philanthropy

Major gifts have an enormous power to drive change. Help us end the housing emergency.

By investing in Shelter Scotland, you can help those facing homelessness and unfit housing today. And you can support our fight for structural change in Scotland's housing system to end the housing emergency for good.

Want to make a major gift to help the fight for home?

At Shelter Scotland, we count donations over £1,000 in a single year as major giving.

If you’re considering making a major gift, our dedicated philanthropy team are here to help. We'll work with you to match your interests and values with the work we do, so your gift has the greatest impact on the housing emergency.

We can also accept donations of shares and would be delighted to work with financial advisors to arrange bespoke forms of giving.

Our commitment to you

When you decide to give a major gift to Shelter Scotland, we're here to support you. We'll provide you with:

  • a personal relationship manager in the philanthropy team

  • regular updates on the impact of your giving

  • the opportunity to see the work you're funding

  • exclusive invitations to Shelter Scotland events

The impact you could have

  • £1,813 can fund our telephone helpline and webchat for one day, helping an average of 69 people with free housing and homelessness advice.

  • £9,007 could fund our legal advice for one week, helping people facing eviction and housing issues.

  • £18,750 could help us bring a test case to the UK Supreme Court which could change housing law and policy across the UK.

  • £166,917 can fund a research project to build an evidence base to influence and improve government policy.

We exist to defend the right to a safe home. Because home is everything.

1.5 million people are living in overcrowded, dangerous, unstable or unaffordable housing. This is the housing emergency.

Our advice and support services offer one-to-one help with housing issues and homelessness. We work in communities to understand the problem and change the system. We run national campaigns to fight for change at the top. And our solicitors help people who’ve lost their homes or are facing eviction.
