Advocating for policy change
Through our policy advocacy and influencing activity, we strive to bring about structural change to make sure that there’s a safe, affordable and secure home for everyone who needs one.
We are fighting for a better housing system that puts people first. One that delivers a new generation of quality social housing and strengthens and delivers on people’s housing rights.

Scottish Empty Homes Partnership
The Scottish Empty Homes Partnership formed in 2010 after the review of the private rented sector identified that Scotland's privately owned empty homes could help to ease housing supply challenges. These are a wasted resource at a time when Scotland needs more homes and can be a burden on communities.
The partnership is funded by the Scottish Government and hosted by Shelter Scotland and the key focus is bringing as many of these homes back into use as possible.
