IKEA, Shelter and Shelter Scotland are aiming to help over half a million people by 2030
In October 2022, IKEA announced a new long-term partnership with Shelter and Shelter Scotland.
IKEA will work with us to create systemic change that addresses the housing emergency, calling on the Scottish government to build a minimum of 37,100 social homes by 2027.
Together we will launch a series of initiatives to help those affected by the housing emergency in IKEA's local communities and beyond, increasing access to support and opportunities.
These initiatives include training for IKEA co-workers to become 'Housing Navigator Champions'. Trained champions will help people in precarious housing situations to understand their rights and keep hold of their homes before they reach crisis point.
The partnership advocates for half a million people impacted by the housing emergency to have a better life at home. Because we share the belief that 'Home is Everything'.
