Your housing rights in the cost of living crisis

Check your rights around the rent cap and the eviction ban.

The rent cap for private tenants

If you rent privately, there's a limit on how much your landlord can increase the rent.

The rent cap applies until 31 March 2024.

The eviction ban has been extended

The eviction ban means some evictions can be delayed. It applies until 31 March 2024.

Your landlord can still get an eviction order, but your eviction could be delayed by up to 6 months. In some cases you can be evicted sooner.
