Tips for using Zoom

We use Zoom for our online training sessions.

To ensure a smooth experience during your training sessions, follow these steps for setting up and using Zoom.

How to set up Zoom before your session

Download Zoom and create a free account before your training session. Make sure you have the latest version of Zoom installed.

Test your audio and video settings before the session. You can do this by joining a test meeting at Zoom Test Meeting.

How to join your session

Join your session using the meeting link in your enrolment email.

You do not need a meeting ID or password.

Before joining, check that your audio and video settings are working.

Using Zoom features during the session

During your session, you can use the:

  • microphone icon to mute or unmute yourself. Stay muted when not speaking to avoid background noise

  • camera icon to turn your video on or off

  • 'chat' feature to ask questions or talk with the host and other participants

  • 'raise hand' feature if you want to speak or ask a question

Troubleshooting tips

Check your audio settings if you cannot hear or be heard. Make sure the correct microphone and speaker are selected.

Check your video settings if your video is not working. Check the correct camera is selected and not being used by another application.

If you're having connection issues, try moving closer to your Wi-Fi router or use a wired connection for better stability.

If Zoom is not working properly, close and restart it.
