Thank you for choosing to fundraise in aid of Shelter Scotland. Your support helps fight the housing emergency.
What does it mean to fundraise ‘in aid of’ Shelter Scotland?
When you’re fundraising in aid of Shelter Scotland, you’re collecting money on our behalf as an independent supporter, not as an employee or official representative of the charity.
'A volunteer acting in aid of an organisation should have no authority to act in its name, and it should be clear that the volunteer is simply raising funds for the organisation but acting in his or her own capacity. An organisation will not be responsible for the volunteer's acts.' (Institute of Fundraising Code of Practice)
Using Shelter Scotland's logo and brand
We have free fundraising resources available for your event.
We can also provide an ‘in aid of Shelter Scotland’ logo for your fundraising materials. Please ensure:
all your fundraising communications clearly state that you are acting in aid of Shelter Scotland, not representing the charity
you do not enter into contracts or make commitments on Shelter Scotland’s behalf
Planning your fundraising event
ask a parent or guardian to register and oversee your fundraising activities if you are under 18
keep your fundraising non-political
contact Shelter Scotland before contacting celebrities, press, or companies
arrange the correct insurance before the event takes place, as Shelter Scotland’s insurance does not cover you
do not undertake activities that could negatively affect Shelter Scotland’s reputation
Boosting donations with Gift Aid
maximise your cash donations by asking your sponsors to complete a sponsorship form so we can claim Gift Aid on their donations
Managing and sending your fundraising money
If you are handling offline sponsorship money or collections, ensure you comply with our Cash Handling Policy. You should:
