Applying for social housing
Social housing is provided by councils, housing associations and housing cooperatives. It’s usually cheaper than private rented housing, and you’ll get a long-term tenancy with very strong rights.
When you apply for social housing, you’ll be added to a housing list. The waiting time depends on where you’re applying and your circumstances.
You'll usually get higher priority if you have urgent housing needs.
