Shelter Scotland’s Stockbridge shops celebrate record breaking January extravaganza
Posted 10 Jan 2025
Following an incredible event, Shelter Scotland’s Stockbridge shops raised a record-breaking total this week.
Treasure hunters from across Edinburgh and beyond swarmed to our Stockbridge and Stockbridge bookshop stores to make the most of the legendary event as it returned for its 22nd year.
Staff and volunteers at the Stockbridge shop offer up a huge range of some of the most exciting and unique items which have been donated over the year. Following the launch weekend on Friday 3 January, Shelter Scotland can reveal a record breaking £31,834 has been raised across both shops.
Shelter Scotland thanks everyone who attended and made a purchase.
Within the first half hour of sales, £1,950 was raised in the first half hour of sales with £13,900 by lunchtime.
Some of the most sought-after items included a selection of signed David Attenborough books and a 'New Edition' 1858 copy of Wuthering Heights.
There was also vintage amber Bakelite beaded jewellery and a pristine Bob Mackie Barbie.
Shelter Scotland Director, Alison Watson, said:
“For more than two decades now the January Stockbridge launch event has been marked in the calendars of Edinburgh’s discerning shoppers.
“Scotland’s housing emergency now means there are more than 10,110 children in Scotland with nowhere to call home and more and more people are becoming homeless.
“Your support keeps us in the fight against homelessness, so I’d like to thank all our customers and donors for their generosity and for another record-breaking year.”
