Intentionality and closure orders
One of the measures available to deal with antisocial behaviour could potentially impact on findings of intentional homelessness.
Closure orders
The legislation allows the police to apply to the court for an order to close a premises. [1] Everyone living in a property that is subject to a closure order will have to find alternative accommodation. They may be able to make an application for assistance because they are homeless. Local authorities may well consider that an applicant in this situation is intentionally homeless, if they were involved in the antisocial behaviour that led to a closure order being made. The pages on intentionality look at what factors should be taken into account.
