Loss of tied accommodation and intentionality

The Code of Guidance on Homelessness states that a person who becomes homeless or threatened with homelessness as a result of losing tied accommodation should not normally be considered intentionally homeless.

This content applies to Scotland

Tied accommodation and homelessness

This includes loss of tied accommodation on retirement. [1]

A local authority should not expect a person to continue in his/her employment if it would be unreasonable for him/her to do so, simply to avoid losing his/her tied accommodation. [2] For more information about becoming homeless intentionally, please see the section on intentionality.
