Covid-19 Committee Consultation Response – Emergency Coronavirus (Scotland) Acts

A response from Shelter Scotland to the Covid-19 Committee's consultation on the further extension of the Emergency Coronavirus legislation.

Shelter Scotland is calling for the extension of emergency protections that prevent people being evicted from their homes and that give students greater ability to leave their tenancies, while renewing calls for greater financial support for people in rent arrears as a result of the health and economic impacts of Coronavirus. Greater and more accessible financial support is the best way to ensure that we do not see a tidal wave of evictions once the emergency measures do come to an end.
