This workshop is for people working in the housing and advice sector or a related field, who want to learn more about private sector housing rights.

Workshop details

The workshop covers:

private sector tenancy types
legal paperwork
the eviction process, including the role of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland (Housing and Property Chamber)
tenants' eviction rights
practical help and advice for people during the eviction process
the impact of private rented sector eviction on homeless applications

The workshop uses a combination of trainer presentation, case study participation, group discussion, and a Q&A facilitated by the trainer.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:

explain the eviction process and role of the First-tier Tribunal
explain a tenant's rights to them
provide practical advice to people facing eviction
