We all need someone in our corner

In this issue of Home, Belinda shares her story of living in totally unsuitable accommodation. Things came to a head after she fell down the stairs carrying her son Lawrence's wheelchair. At that point, Belinda was put in touch with us, and she received support from Karen, a housing rights worker.

Belinda had spent years trying to get help to move to a safe home. Our housing system can feel like a maze at times like that. A new barrier around every corner. But Shelter Scotland's years of experience mean we can support people to make the right calls, send the right emails and stand up for their housing rights. That's exactly what Belinda did. Thanks to her determination and our expertise, Belinda and Lawrence are now in a suitable home they love.

We can only work like this because of supporters like you. Together, we're in the corner of families fighting the housing emergency nationwide. Thank you so much for making sure people like Belinda know they're never alone.
