Contact the council and tell them you’re making a homeless application. They must help if you’re homeless or about to become homeless.

You’ll get somewhere to stay straight away if you need it.

How to make a homeless application in Scottish Borders

Weekdays

Monday to Thursday from 8:45am to 5pm
Friday from 8:45am to 3:45pm

Evenings, overnight and weekends

What the council must do

  1. Accept your homeless application and interview you about your situation

  2. Give you temporary accommodation if you need it

  3. Give you a written decision about your application
