Together, we can fight homelessness in these uncertain times

Our phones are ringing off the hook each day

Since the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic began, we’ve seen a steep rise in calls to our helpline. As we can no longer carry out face-to-face support, we’re working hard to increase the resources that will enable helpline advisers to work from home.

To do this, we need your help.

None of us know how the next few months will play out. But, with more than 11 million private renters in the UK and many on zero-hour contracts or in other unstable employment, there will be thousands more people facing months of fear and uncertainty.

You can help protect them. These are uncertain times. But together, we can prevent more people from losing their homes.

Will you join the fight today?

One of the calls we took recently came from someone who, along with her housemates, is working on the frontline of the pandemic at a local hospital.

Their repayment for the hours spent saving lives? Their landlord threatened them with eviction. He was scared of catching coronavirus and told them that unless a cure was found, they all had to leave.

As you may know, evictions have been made illegal until the health crisis is over – and that’s thanks to the efforts of Shelter Scotland supporters like you.

But it’s still vital that we’re here to make sure this is enforced around the country as many people are still at risk of being illegally thrown out of their homes. Please donate to join the fight and help make sure we can protect them today.

Your donation will be used where it is most needed to help people struggling with bad housing and homelessness. This means it may not just be used to fund our COVID-19 response, but could support any of our important work.
