Other rights of tenants with short Scottish secure tenancies
A tenant who has been given a short Scottish secure tenancy will have very similar rights to a tenant with a Scottish secure tenancy.
Rights in a short Scottish secure tenancy
For the duration of the short Scottish secure tenancy, a qualified person cannot succeed to their tenancy, and there is limited security of tenure. [1]
All other aspects of their tenancy will have the same rights as a Scottish secure tenancy tenant. This means that the Scottish secure tenancy legislation will apply equally to the short Scottish secure tenancy in relation to:
repairs
assignations, exchanges and sublets
rent increases
changing the tenancy agreement
right to information
compensation for work the tenant has done to the property
joint tenants
abandonment.
For more information on these rights and procedures, please see the sections on Scottish secure tenancies, assignation and subletting.
