This interim paper summarises the recent eviction records of local authorities based on information on evictions, collected and published by the Scottish Executive. It illustrates that their eviction practices conflict with some national homelessness policy objectives and highlights wide variation in practice between areas.

Fact sheet on the Homelessness etc. (Scotland) Act

Shelter supported the bill throughout its parliamentary passage, praising the progressive nature of the new legislation. It is expected that the bill will gain Royal Assent over the summer.

Briefing for Stage Three of the Homelessness etc. (Scotland) Bill

The following short paper outlines Shelter’s views on the Homelessness etc. (Scotland) Bill in advance of the final stage of its parliamentary passage. Shelter has consistently supported the bill throughout its passage as a progressive response to homelessness in Scotland, one which places Scotland ahead of the rest of the UK in terms of tackling homelessness and its causes.
