Thank you for caring. You’re a hero!

Paul’s story is a powerful example of how you’re helping people change their own lives.

When Paul came to us for help, he was sleeping rough – despite having worked hard to tackle poor mental health and an addiction. He was determined to find a job and a home, so he could be a bigger part of his children’s lives. Then, someone suggested our Time for Change programme – and that's what brought him through our Dundee hub doors.

Thanks to kind-hearted supporters like you, we could be there to make sure Paul wouldn’t be discriminated against when he applied for help with housing. Someone was always by his side. He got access to an emergency hostel room (vital for helping him stay away from substance abuse) – and onto the waiting list for somewhere more permanent.

Helping others to help yourself

Paul’s determination spilled over into a passion for helping others. He used his lived experienced to get involved with our Time to Change Programme, which helped him cope with the strains of hostel life. He stayed focused on the future – and in an unusually short three weeks, secured a tenancy! Then, with your help, we could set Paul up with the furniture and basics he needed to make it a home.

But the biggest achievement for Paul is that his children now stay with him three nights a week. Not only has support from people like you given Paul the chance to make a safe, secure family home, but he’s also making change in his community. And it’s all because of you – thank you.
