Succession and short assured tenancies
The right to succeed to a short assured tenancy is much the same as the right to succeed to an assured tenancy.
This content applies to Scotland
Short assured tenants and succession
This right provided no real benefit, as the landlord would be entitled to end the tenancy at the end of the (usually) short contractual period. The successor would inherit a contractual short assured tenancy.
However, from 1st December 2017, where an individual succeeds an assured or short assured tenancy, the tenancy ceases to be an assured (or short assured) tenancy and will instead be a private residential tenancy. [1] See the section on private residential tenancies for more information.
